Captain’s Changeover 2025/26 – A Fantastic Start to the Year Ahead

Carol & I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Captain’s Changeover and helped make both the day and evening so special. We really hope you all had a great time — judging by the smiles, laughter, and stories the next day, it certainly looked that way!

From the moment members arrived, there was a great buzz around the club, and it carried right through to the evening celebrations.

A Brilliant Setup and “Best Spread Ever” 🍽️

There have been so many positive comments over the past few days about the food — with more than a few members calling it the “best spread ever”. That’s some serious praise!

A massive thank you to Mario and his team for all their hard work. The quality, variety, and presentation were outstanding, and it really added to what was already a great occasion.

And of course, the room itself looked fantastic. Huge thanks go to my wonderful “elfets” — Chrissy, Betty, Kathryn & Jean — for decorating the room so beautifully. You did an amazing job… and yes, please keep your diaries clear for the rest of 2026! 😊

Congratulations to Iain Barnes & Paul Wakefield on a fantastic win in the Captain’s Changeover Better Ball Competition. A special thank you as well for flying over from Blighty to join us for the day — it certainly paid off! 😊

It was great to see so many members taking part and enjoying the competition, and even better to celebrate the winners together afterwards.

I also want to say a massive thank you to George Beattie and the WAGS for raising an incredible €1,350 for my Captain’s Charity.

That is truly an amazing amount of money and I am so grateful to everyone involved for giving me such a fantastic start to the year ahead. Thank you as well to all the generous sponsors who donated prizes to help raise these funds — your support really does make a difference.

And of course, a special mention must go to the fines committee… you are most definitely a force to be reckoned with!! 😄
