Welcome to my second Captains Chat of 2023. The weather has not been as kind as this time last year and has been quite cold and wet and unfortunately, we had to cancel one competition day.
Administration:
As I am sure most of you are aware our internet service went down earlier but fortunately Foxy and particularly David Mears were on hand and put some great work in to get us back up and running, many thanks to you both.
However, as a result of having no internet a FPGC Members WhatsApp group was created and a big thanks to Rod Smith our chairman who sorted this. If you are not on the Whatsapp group or know someone who isn’t please either provide your mobile number or have them contact Rod. This is important as you must opt in, you cannot be added unless you do.
Social Events:
We are having our Charity St.Patrick’s Day celebrations on the 15th March, do come and join us for the craic, visitors and guests welcome.
Our first non-golfing Social event will be kicking off on Saturday 1st April, and yes, it will be an April Fools Charity Bingo night being kindly hosted by Janice and Ian Galloway, see attached for details. It is close to the Easter festival so hopefully a lot of you will be over. All welcome.
All posters and competition sheets are on our members board in the club house.
Charity Update:
In what has been a relatively quiet two months we have raised €1425 so far this year, thank you all and a special thanks to the WAGS who donated all their prize money of €335 from their first outing of the year. The Charity Pinsplitter raised €350 and in keeping with last year the 8th Hole Bunker and 15th Hole Lake has raised €740 from voluntary donations which means those who have contributed don’t have to pay into the box for the rest of the year, it’s only €30 for the whole year, great value!
The Charities we are supporting this year will be NECI due to our continued and welcome relationship with Baptista and separately Madrugada. Your continued support on Charity Days is greatly appreciated.
Single and Pairs Knock out competitions:
The draws have been completed and are up on the Board, please ensure your first-round matches are completed by the 15th April.
Race to Budens
Janice and Ian Galloway continue to keep a lead but are now closely followed by Duncan Leopold and Gary Dowie.
Interleague 2023:
We play our Cup game on the 13th March at home against Alto and our first league match again at home on the 21st March against Vila Sol. Thanks Mike for organising all the fixtures. The full fixture list is on the website.
Monthly Competitions:
This link to the monthly competitions schedule lets you know what’s coming up and Mike will post the next quarter’s schedule shortly.
Captains Away Trip:
The Captains Away trip to Dona Filipe playing Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo is on the 2nd and 3rd November. It’s all booked and the sign up sheet is on the notice board. If you require any further information please contact me.
Thanks again to our Card markers and enjoy March.
Duncan Leopold,
Captain FPGC
