Welcome to my third Captains Chat of 2023. It's great to see the weather has improved and we are all able to get out and enjoy our wonderful course.
Admin:
The new Members WhatsApp is well and truly up and running and good comments have been received of how useful it has been. A reminder though that If you are not on the WhatsApp group or know someone who isn’t please either provide your mobile number or have them contact Rod. This is important as you must opt in, you cannot be added unless you do.
Social Events:
The Charity St.Patrick’s Day celebrations on the 15th March was a resounding success and thank you all for making it such fun. We raised over €800 for Charity, everyone joined in the Mulligan and took advantage of having a free shot which contributed €350.
We had our first Social on Saturday 1st April, an April Fools Charity Bingo night being kindly hosted by Janice and Ian Galloway. It was supported by 52 members and guests and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Charity Update:
We have raised circa €3600.00 so far this year, which is fantastic, thank you all.
The Charities we are supporting this year will be NECI due to our continued and welcome relationship with Baptista and separately Madrugada. Your continued support on Charity Days is greatly appreciated.
Single and Pairs Knock out competitions:
The draws have been completed and are up on the Board, please ensure your first-round matches are completed by the 15th of April.
Race to Budens
Janice and Ian Galloway continue to keep a lead but are now closely followed by Duncan Leopold and Gary Dowie and it's also great to see Peter Noone, Linda Anthony, Ann de Jong and Linda Morris making a charge up the sheet.
Interleague 2023:
We played our Cup game on the 13th of March at home against Alto which we won 3 - 2 and our first league match on the 21st March against Vila Sol was a very closely fought match ending in a tie with Jim Brennan and Ben Woolnough halving the last match on the 18th The next match against Vale do Lobo is on Friday 14th April. Monthly Competitions:

Captains Away Trip:
The Captains Away trip to Dona Filipe playing Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo is on the 2nd and 3rd November. It’s all booked, and the signup sheet is on the notice board. I was asked if it is one or two nights. It is two nights. If you require any further information, please contact me.
